Reminiscent of a scene in a Western movie, two men on a motor cycle chased two riding a motor cycle and shot both dead near the Balapitiya Bridge, on the Colombo-Galle Highway at 9.40 a.m. yesterday (16). They used a T-56 , Police said.

The bodies have been removed to the Karapitiya Hospital. The killers sped away.

Initial Police investigations revealed that underworld rivalry between two gangs had resulted in yesterday’s killings.

The deceased have been identified as Sangiliyan alias Nilantha Gayan of Mohotiwatte, Balapitiya and Kalukeerthi Ruwanchamara of Ambalangoda.

According to Ambalangoda HQI, Upul Nilmini Aeriyaratne, the registration number of the bike on which the killers came had been noted down and initial investigations are now being conducted to trace it.
