Mobile phones - uses and abuses

Everybody knows that mobile phonehas become an item used by everyone irrespective of caste, creed, nationality or level in society–even by school children and coconut-pluckers.

In the beginning, when it was first introduced to Sri Lanka, it was used only by a handful of businessmen and was also somewhat expensive. It was essential for them as they could earn at least ten to 15 thousand rupees with a single telephone call. But today it has become a threat to the existence of society . It is being used for illegal activities. Terrorists use mobile phones to explode bombs. It has become a tool for them to trace the whereabouts of anyone .

Although it is a quick means of communication in a moment of adversity, to family members and friends, it can also be a means of supplying information to robbers.
