AMBALANGODA: Hikkaduwa UC has taken steps to construct a beach garden at a cost of Rs. 5,594,000 adjacent to the coral garden beach stretch, according to its Chairman, Vinnie Kariyawasam.

'Green Hope' institution has pledged to bear the cost. A children's park too would be constructed nextto the beach garden at a cost of Rs. 14 lakhs said the chairman, Another children's park would also be built in Narigama area at a cost of Rs. 1,400,000.

Hikkaduwa is a well known tourist destination in the south and the proposed beach garden would be a boon not only to the foreigners but also to the locals, said the chairman.
