The dispute between JVP factions has taken a new turn with the JVP scheduling its fifth party Convention for later next month.

Political sources said this would bring pressure on the 10-member dissident group to seek a negotiated settlement to their dispute or seek legal recourse to thwart the convention now scheduled for May 27th.

The sources said the dispute would prevent the dissidents from taking part in forthcoming May Day celebrations and the ongoing campaign for the first ever elections to the Eastern Provincial Council. (SF)
