A mental patient warded at the Karapitiya Hospital climbed the roof and attempted for well over two hours to reach the high tension wire running over the hospital roof, but failed.

All efforts by the Hospital Police and employees to bring him down had failed and later Galle Police arrived at the scene and took him away with the greatest difficulty, Hospital sources said.
