ITI develops new mushroom products

The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), previously the CISIR, recently had a Mushroom Day to demonstrate various mushroom-based products it had developed and introduce new products based on mushrooms.

The event was organized by ITI’s Food Technology Division with the event beginning with a lecture on mushroom cultivation followed by lectures on disease and pest control.

A research officer had delivered a lecture on button mushroom cultivation.

The mushroom-based products developed at ITI included a mushroom sausage, burger, sauce, chutney and pickle developed by the Food Development Section.

The event included education on hygienic preparation of mushroom products as well as a lecture on the rules land regulations of food labeling important for marketing products.
