Mr. Lionel Fernando, retired public servant who served as foreign secretary during the time of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar, is tipped to be Sri Lanka’s next ambassador in Paris.

Well informed sources confirmed that his possible appointment has been discussed but no decision has yet been taken.

The late Mr. Tyronne Fernando, a former foreign minister was named for this position but passed away before he could assume office.
