Both JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva and Patriotic
National Movement Chief Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera yesterday warned the
media of interested parties issuing bogus press statements on their
respective letter heads. The warning followed last week’s release of a
spurious statement on the JVP’s letter head. The controversial statement
attributed to the JVP politburo attacked JVP dissident leader Wimal
Weerawansa. The JVP General Secretary has brought this to the notice of
police headquarters.
Dr. Amarasekera dismissed a statement which had been
attributed to the Gampaha District Organisation of the PNM which he
asserted was the work of a group bent on destroying the relationship
between the JVP and the PNM.
