We refer to the article by Mr. Trevor Chesterfield in the Island News Paper of 15th April 2008.

Mr. Chesterfield gives the impression that Mr. Chandika Hathurusinghe the coach of the 'A' Team has been biased towards certain selection to the 'A' Team squad for 2008.

Mr. Hathurusinghe as 'A' Team coach is co-opted to selections of the 'A' Team and gives his opinion on players for consideration by the selectors. The selectors after deliberation decides on the players that should represent the 'A' Team, taking in to consideration not only statistics but future requirements of the National Team.

It is therefore not proper for Mr. Chesterfield to insinuate that

Mr. Hathurusinghe has the final say in selections to the 'A' Team. It is a collective decision taken by the selectors.
