Leadership change in the Burgher Assn.

Former President, The Burgher Association (BA) Dunstant Kelaart resigned from the position of President recently.

Vice President Trevor Ludowyke was installed acting President by the Executive Committee. These changes were due to Dunstant Kelaart’s departure. Kelaart took over the reigns of the Burgher Association from its founder Maxi Rosairo, who was appointed to the position of past President and Ex-Offico member of the Executive Committee.

Dunstant Kelaart on assuming duties said that the Burgher Association would play a more dynamic role in the focus of the Association.

Trevor Ludowyke being in the Association since its inception, accepting responsibility said his input would perhaps have the strength of his predecessors. In an appeal to the present strength of the Association numbering approximately 1,700 members, he said the Association was at a critical stage of its development. What was now essential was that the membership, the veritable backbone of the Association should retain its interest and attend all functions of the BA and support its progress.

He said by attending functions of the BA, members could consolidate the Association and more importantly lend support and volunteer assistance, which was sorely needed. ‘We need your unrestrained support so that your Association should succeed,’ he said in an impassioned plea to the general membership.

Annual dues which were at extremely reasonable levels need be submitted on time.. No Association could function without funds, he said.

He appealed to all members to attend the ‘The Members Nite’, scheduled to be held on May 3rd, at the Lion’s activity Center, 945 A, Sri Jayawardenapura Road, Etul Kotte.

The programme for the evening has already been posted to all members, who are requested to attend.
