NIBM to help southern students to continue higher studies

The National Institute of Business Management has taken steps to enable students of the Southern Province to continue their higher studies in business management without burdening the Government. NIBM will spend Rupees 400 million to build its Regional Centre in Galle to conduct its courses so that the students of the south will not have to go to Colombo to pursue their business studies, Minister of Vocational and Technical Training Piyasena Gamage made these points at the ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the six storey NIBM building in Galle on Tuesday (29).

The minister said students of the south had scored high marks in most of the courses conducted by the NIBM and the building that was to be completed in one and a half years time, would be another important milestone in the progress of the institution.

NIBM incorporated by an Act in Parliament in 1968, is affiliated to the universities of Dublin and Colombia and has produced about 500 graduates who had reached international standards of achievement.

Director, NIBM Prof. Lakshman Jayatilake and Director General Dr. E. A. Weerasinghe also addressed the meeting.
