

NEW YORK (AP) - Liberia's president is urging African leaders to ensure that the results of Zimbabwe's presidential election reflect the will of the people.
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf recalled that the back-to-back civil wars in Liberia from 1989 to 2003 that left 200,000 people dead were rooted in suppression of the people's choice of leaders.
She said at a luncheon Wednesday where she received an award from the International Crisis Group that suppressing the will of the people can destroy a society and spill over into the region - as happened with Liberia.
She said that's why she's urging other African leaders that "it's time to do something about Zimbabwe.
