KANDY – The United National Party, which has joined the Eastern Provincial Council elections fray, will shine due to the popularity of it partner, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, SLMC Municipal Council Member Mathalic Marikkar said.
Speaking at the Municipal Council meeting on Monday (5) afternoon, he said the UNP’s hopes of winning the polls had increased, but all credit should go to the SLMC.
"There is no support for the UNP in the Eastern Province. It is the SLMC’s popularity that will give them a chance," he added.
Mayor L. B. Aluwihare presided.
