The LTTE exploded a claymore mine near the Mahavilachchiya cemetery on Monday night targeting a three wheeler in which three persons, including a Buddhist monk, were travelling.

A member of the Civil Defence Force who drove the three wheeler was injured and the monk and the other passenger escaped unhurt. The three wheeler was transporting Ven. Kahatagasdigiliya Chandananda to the Mahavilachchiya Hospital.
