The Sampathnuwara Base Hospital in Welioya was re-opned last week after two years. It had been kept closed due to the war situation in the area, Health Ministry sources said.
Two wards too were opened and by Monday eleven patients gained admission.
Medical staff and equipment were dispatched to the hospital a week prior to the opening. The hospital would cater to not only residents of the area but also war wounded, Health Ministry sources said.
