It was Walala A. Rathnayaka MV who dominated the event wining the Girls’ U-16 800x4, achieving 10:27:08 secs., beating Poramadulla Central College, Rikillagaskada, in the Relay Carnival-2008 concluded at Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday. The event was organised by the SL Schools Athletic Association and the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka, with Sri Lanka Telecom ‘Mobitel’ as sponsors.
A. Rathnayaka conquered the relay carnival getting another successful win in the Girls U-18 800x4m. They recorded 10:07:75 secs to overcome Poramadulla CC. Their dominance continued in the Boys’ U-20 800x4m as they set 7:57:19 secs to finish the event as first.
St.Joseph’s College, Wennappuwa, relay team meanwhile overcame Dharmaraja College, Kandy, and A. Rathnayaka MV in Boys’ U-16 800x4m by clocking 9:03:62 secs.
In the Boy’s U-18 800x4m event, Vidyartha, Kandy, won by setting 8:31:99 secs. In that event, Ambagamuwa MV and A. Rathnayaka MV won second and third respectively.
As many of the relay heats were worked off yesterday, the more vibrant relay events will be continued till May 12 at the same venue.
