With the victory in the Eastern Province Provincial Councils Election, the government would now take every effort to solve the burning issues, senior member of the UPFA and Power and Energy Minister W D J Seneviratne said.

"We have received a clear majority to rule the Eastern Province," Seneviratne told The Island while expressing confidence in meeting the daunting task of developing the war ravaged Eastern Province.

He said the victory was an endorsement of liberation of the Eastern Province and the immediate launch of rehabilitation, reconstruction and development work at a tremendous cost to the government. (IN)
