VSNL Lanka Limited, a part of the $29 billion Tata group has now been renamed Tata Communications Lanka Limited following the global launch of  Tata Communications as the new corporate identity for VSNL. The Tata communications brand integrates the former VSNL, VSNL International, Telegloba, Tata Indicom Enterprise Business unit and Cipris brands worldwide.

Tata Communications Lanka Limited was incorporated in June 2003 and obtained an external gateway operator license. The company commenced operations in February 2004. Within two years the company has created a niche for itself for catering to the global telecommunication needs of customers in Sri Lanka.

Tata Communications Lanka Limited will leverage the Tata global network which is one of the most recent and advanced sub-marine cable and IP networks to meet the demand for converged IP solutions.
