University of Peradeniya complains to SC:

No clinical training for Faculty of Allied Sciences at Kandy, Peradeniya hospital

The University of Peradeniya has complained to the Supreme Court that the Paramedical Students of its Faculty of Allied Sciences are not allowed clinical training at the Kandy and Peradeniya Hospitals.

However the students of the Faculty of Allied Sciences of the Kelaniya University are allowed clinical training at the Ragama Hospital.

The Faculty of Allied Sciences grants degrees in B.Sc Nursing B.Sc pharmacy, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science and B.Sc. in Physiotherapy. These courses need practical training.

The petition requested the Supreme Court to order the Minister of Health Services to direct the Kandy and Peradeniya Hospital to accommodate the Students for clinical training.

The Supreme Court granted leave to proceed with this petition and fixed arguments for a later date.
