      Editorial:Freedom of Suppression
Deputy Editor and Defence columnist of The Nation newspaper Keith Noyahr was abducted by an unidentified gang on Thursday night near his Dehiwala Waidya Road residence and mercilessly assaulted. His assailants had released him yesterday morning and he is now warded at the National hospital.

Hisbullah meets Pillaiyan over Kattankudy violence

Eastern Provincial Council Minister M. L. A. M. Hisbullah flew to Batticaloa yesterday morning from Colombo to meet Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakantha (Pillaiyan) at his office in the aftermath of Thursday’s violence in Kattankudy where five killings took place.Hisbullah was sworn in as a Minister of the Eastern Provincial Council by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday forenoon at the Presidential Secretariat.

Journalists belonging to five unions staged a massive protest at the Kollupitiya junction yesterday afternoon against the abduction and assault of The Nation newspaper’s defence columnist Keith Noyahr. The protestors carried pictures of the severely injured victim lying in a bed at the Accident Service of the National Hospital
