Where have all the N.G.0's gone?

Sometime back, when an M.P. was killed, the Anti War Front headed by Dr. Kumar Rupasinghe (KR) brought the dead body to the Colombo Town hall premises, for display, apparently to enlighten the entire world about the 'barbaric killing'. Since then, thousands of innocent people have got killed, due to bomb explosions, details of which are too lengthy to be incorporated in a letter of this nature. As to why KR never thought it necessary to bring at least one such dead body to the Town Hall defies imagination. After all the value of a human life is the same whether it be that of the highest of the land or the lowest. Imagine the plight of thousands of dependants of those who have been killed or maimed. Doesn't KR's heart bleed for their pathetic plight? What is most pathetic and deplorable is that KR could not muster sufficient courage to condemn these barbaric killings. Why is he content with playing the role of the mythical monkeys in respect of these gruesome killings? i.e Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing.

These remarks are equally applicable to the Centre for Policy Alternatives as well. CPA went to Courts when some temporary residents at Lodges were sent back to the North, as they posed a security threat CPA managed to get back the lodgers to their respective lodges. Why can’t they show the same enthusiasm to say something about the barbaric acts referred to above and use their resources, to get at the culprits? Apparently, they used the resources at their disposal and found out that the lodgers referred to above were innocent. If not, he would have gone to Courts! The remaining N.G.Os and the INGOS and the so called Human Rights agencies and activists too are playing the role of the mythical monkeys as far these gruesome killings are concerned, which speaks volumes for their sincerity of purpose.

The role of the TNA, as far as these gruesome killings are concerned, is, to, say the least, deplorable. All the perks TNA MP's, 'enjoy are paid for by the taxpayers, the majority of whom are Sinhalese. There are no taxes forthcoming to the Government from certain parts of the North, where the TNA's masters reside. Can’t the TNA show some gratitude to the majority taxpayers who maintain them, by condemning these gruesome killings? Lastly but not the least, the UNP, too is playing the role of the mythical monkeys as far as these regular bomb explosions are concerned. Can’t that young M.P. Gayantha Karunatilaka, at one of his frequent press briefings, say a few words on behalf of his leader, condemning these brutal massacres? If not why not?
