The CWW Kannangara education reforms of the 1940s had completed its course by the time the free market economy was introduced to this country in the late 1970s by J R Jayewardene. With the free market economy there was unprecedented growth in the economy. More and more businesses were created and through that more and more employment opportunities came into being where written and spoken English became a necessity. |
