Sri Lanka wins toss, elects to bat against UAE

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) - Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss Thursday and elected to bat against United Arab Emirates in their Asia Cup group match.

Sri Lanka, which defeated Bangladesh by 131 runs Wednesday, rested three of its key players - Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas and Sanath Jayasuriya.

They were replaced by Mahela Udawatte, Kaushal Weeraratne and Thilan Thushara.

The United Arab Emirates, which lost its first group game against Bangladesh by 96 runs, also made three changes for its last group match.

Amjad Javed, Shadeep Silva and Vikrant Shetty made way for Alavi Shukri, Aman Ali and Nizel Fernandez.
