Sabotage of blood compatibility tester
GMOA says probe team was not qualified
The GMOA yesterday said the doctors at the Castle Street Hospital for Women had prevented a Health Ministry team of investigators from probing the recent mix up of blood samples in the Hospital as it was not qualified to conduct such a probe.
The recent mix up of blood samples in the Hospital created a hue and cry and paralysed the smooth functioning of the Hospital’s Blood Bank.
Dr. Krimlin Wickremainghe of the GMOA told The Island that the probe team was not qualified to conduct investigations into the alleged sabotage of the blood compatibility machine by two nurses.
Except for one doctor of the National Hospital and a Nursing Sister of the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital, the other three in the team were development officers of the Health Ministry Investigation Unit and had no qualification whatsoever to conduct such an investigation, he said. Non technical officials are not supposed to conduct such sensitive probes, he said.
