had an opportunity to come to power and show how corrupt they are. How did the JVP decide on this five-thousand rupee demand? It is figure they know the government cannot afford. The UNP added another amount to make it worse. Why did the JVP / UNP trade unions ignore the President's invitation? Are they larger than the country or its president? 

The UNP without any shame whatsoever is showing with its every act, that it still wants to cow down to the LTTE. Its attitude towards the working class is already known. No political party has done more damage than the JVP which has destroyed billions worth of national assets and thousands of lives since its emergence.   

If the Mahinda Rajapakse government is corrupt and wasteful, that is no reason for the workers to work against the state. Workers can chase this government out and bring in the UNP or the JVP . Will they be any better?
