Congratulations to The Island for the hard hitting editorial of July 16 regarding our fair city, which is a garbage dump, defiled by posters on the walls and the greenery obscured by hoardings. Cut-outs and banners of our health minister’s ego trip following the WHO "chairmanship" now sadly occupy the gutters and spill waste water on to the streets!

Let us make Colombo a clean and beautiful city by ridding itself of the garbage, posters and hoardings, not just for SAARC Summit, but forever!
