H. R. Gihan Hettige took the day’s honours by winning the Nilaweli Peace Village Trophy for the third consecutive year at the 3rd Trincomalee District Table Tennis Championship played at Sri Muthumari Ambal Vidyalayam Table Tennis Hall, Trincomalee, last week.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category H. A. P. Umesha Suvimali Darmasena won the Nelaweli Peace Village Trophy for the second consecutive year.

Both players, Hettige and Darmasena of Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya won the Under-17, 19 and 21 Boys’ and Girls’ events respectively and were adjudged the Most Outstanding Players of the Tournament.

The tournament was conducted by the Asian German Sports Exchange Program and sponsored by the Nilaveli Peace Village.
