NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa launched an ambitious programme to enroll one million new members to form a government within the next 10 years. The NFF will create a political organization with new doctrine acceptable to people of all walks of life he told Gampaha district NFF district committee meeting held at Gampaha Sanasa Building auditorium.

JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe, Weerawansa said though he had been an enemy of UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was now his friend. The NFF is well aware of the ulterior motives of the JVP because the JVP which lost peoples’ confidence due to the unsuccessful July 10 strike has gone berserk to sabotage the activities of the NFF. The NFF will carry on its next course of action growing from strength to strength.

The NFF was determined to go ahead with its objectives to strengthen the party and was able to enroll a large membership during the last 3 months. The enemies of the NFF had tried to stop NFF meetings and had prevented people from attending these meetings.

He expressed the view that the implementation of the 13th Amendment would be a great disaster to the country because it would weaken the Central government. MP K.D.Lalkantha had pledged to leave the JVP in the event of the July 10 strike being unsuccessful. People of this country did not support the strike because they were aware that the government is engaged in using all resources to defeat the LTTE. Workers were not interested in the Rs.5,000 bait because they knew that the government was engaged in a worthy cause to liberate the country from brutal terrorism.

MP Weerawansa further said that vesting of land, education and police powers to provincial councils under the implementation of the 13th Amendment were extremely harmful to the country. That process would lead to the creation of a Federal State. The ex-UNP Ministers who joined the UPFA government were entirely responsible for the removal of former Treasury Secretary P.B.Jayasundera from office. Dr.Jayasundara who was the Chairman of the Public Enterprise Reforms Commission (PERC) had signed the documents on the instructions of those Ministers. The Ministers should have resigned from their positions, without making Jayasundera a scapegoat.

"Indian economic expansionism had intruded Sri Lanka and the Indian IOC, electricity transmission from South India and Indian books would be dominate the country. The government had no control of foreign tours of Ministers. He cited Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama’s constant foreign jaunts.Expenditure incurred on such trips was one reason for the increasing rate of inflation.

MP Weerawansa said that the French NGO ACF was in the process of instituting legal proceedings against Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Army Commander Sarath Fonseka. NGOs had been conspiring against the government. The NFF would be launching extensive awareness programmes to educate the public on these happenings.
