

The SAARC Heads of State, will retreat to the parliamentary complex today to discuss the various proposals placed before them by the Council of Ministers.
All member states have reached agreement on the US$ 300 million SAARC Development Fund, a counter terrorism pact and the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty on Criminal matters. They are scheduled to be ratified today.
Among the other proposals up for discussion are the establishment of a Food Bank, power and energy projects, full implementation of SAFTA, a common currency and a SAARC University .
The Heads of State will meet for the concluding sessions at the BMICH this afternoon, during which the Colombo Declaration would be announced.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will address the media in the evening.
