      Editorial:Setback for campaign to confer pariah status on SL
US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher yesterday reiterated his government’s support for the Sri Lankan Government to bring about a solution to the North-East crisis. The solution, he said, should be acceptable to both Sinhalese and Tamils.
"We support counter terrorism since we need to see the benefits of democracy extended to all people, and this must be done fairly," said Boucher at a press conference in Colombo yesterday.

Look into patients’ welfare before charter – GMOA
The all important aspects of patient care such as the provision of beds and drugs should be included in the Patients’ Charter the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) Assistant Secretary Dr. Chandana Atapattu said.

Second phase of Kelaniya flyover
The second phase of the Kelaniya flyover will be opened by Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayaka today at 5.00 p.m. Within 61 days the engineers have been able to complete the second flyover, the Highways and Road Construction Ministry said.
