      Editorial:Let Madhu be a no conflict zone!

NEW DELHI, August 7: Six LTTE militants and their Indian accomplice in Tamil Nadu were arrested on Thursday in connection with the seizure of 26 'acid cans' near Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on July 30, police said.
Inspector Thiagarajan of 'Q' branch, dealing with extremist activities in Rameswaram, said their contact Muniasamy, an Indian national, also had been taken into custody at Nagatchi in the southern Indian state’s Ramanathapuram district.

UN turns down LTTE ceasefire plea
The United Nations has turned down the LTTE request for the declaration of an immediate ceasefire, Government Defence spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said yesterday.
The LTTE had made the request to the UN on Thursday (7) and the UN had informed the Government of Sri Lanka about the request.
