

David Pieris Motor Company, the largest automotive dealer in the country in performance terms, has embarked on an expansion program involving the building of a modern assembly plant for Bajaj vehicles at Ranna in the Hambantota District, the company said.
An investment of Rs.700 million will be made on this project on 100 acres of land owned by the company, it said.
The site will be served by water bodies developed on the land and water recycling systems, the company said in a news release.
A high powered delegation from Bajaj Auto led by its General Manager (Export Operations) Ashok Saxena was in Sri Lanka recently in connection with the project and he is seen here (at extreme right) in discussions with senior officials of the David Pieris Motor Company headed by its Deputy Chairman/MD Sumith Cumaranatunga.
The news release said these discussions focused on appropriate integration of information communications technology systems to further facilitate seamless operations.
