Dhammika’s new film Rana Mayura
Dhammika Aluthgedara is a young tele drama producer who lives in Japan. He works as a translator for the police and courts in Tokyo, Ibaraki and Chiba. He also owns a private business in Japan.

"I had a love for the field of art even as a child. My favourite past time was listening to music. I used to like listening to singers like Victor Ratnayake, the songs of late H.R. Jotipala and Nanda Malini. So when I met veteran actor and director, Sriyani Amarasena through my friend Sunil Lakshman who acted in Sakura Mal which was televised in Japan I asked her if we could do a another teledrama with a good screen play which could be watched by the Sri Lankan viewers in the comfort of their homes," he explains.
As a result she came up with the screen play of Rana Mayura in which the character of a minister is played by Jeevan Kumaratunga who in fact is a minister in real life. The minister’s mother is played by Sriyani Amarasena.
It’s a story about a minister who leaves the country for his safety. Rakesh (Dhammika Alutgedara) and Radhika (Oshadhi Hewa Madduma) are in-laws. Rakesh leaves for Japan with the hope of marrying Radhika alone. However he learns that Radhika has started an affair with the minister. Meanwhile Pabodha who plays the character of another girl who has left Sri Lanka tries to win the love and affection of the minister.
There is an attempt to assassinate the minister by a man named Raj who plans to kill him by befriending Radhika. His first step is to make friends with Rakesh and then get to know Radhika.
Rakesh realises this and helps save the ministers life despite the fact that he (the minister) is the man to whom he has lost the love of his life.
Dhammika says he plans on producing a good film in the near future along with several other teledramas. He also happens to be a singer and at present is practicing a Japanese song which tells about Sri Lanka. Rohana Weerasingha is writing a score for the song at present.
"I came to this land of Sakura flowers to earn something. I feel that I have been able to achieve soothing due to my efforts and patients," says Dhammika with a sense of pride. (DJ)
