The NPC yesterday said that it wouldn’t interfere with IGP Jayantha Wickremaratne’s right to transfer police officers of the rank of Inspector and below.

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and SLAF Chief Air Marshal Roshan Goonetileke visit China Bay air base over the weekend. The SLAF is in the process of rapidly developing the base to enhance its role in the action against the LTTE. The development of the base would ease pressure on the strategic Katunayake airbase, the nerve centre of the ongoing air campaign which is of critical importance to the overall effort to defeat the LTTE.
