Minister Maithripala Sirisena according to the Daily Mirror of 07/08, has stated that Mervyn Silva would be punished by the gods. It is interesting to know who these gods are, that Maithripala Sirisena is talking about. In any event he should not just wait expecting these gods to get into action. Perhaps, he should organize some poojas and invoke their intervention.

Maithripala Sirisena should give some thought to the ancestry of Mervyn Silva. The latter, as he claims, has royal blood and royals had the divine right to rule. With this connection Mervyn Silva may be having many friends among the gods, particularly among the gods of the underworld. It is obvious that he is being protected by these gods.

Be that as it may, Maithripala Sirisena should realize that so-called leaders are for some reason the people that the gods have chosen to rule and to lead. The gods expect these leaders to protect the innocent from harm and to guide people on the correct path. It is on the rulers that the gods have bestowed the right to punish deviants.

It is to perform these duties well that the gods have chosen to lavish upon leaders all imaginable luxuries, and protect them from evil gods like Prabahakaran.

Minister Sirisena should not wait for the gods to punish wrongdoers. ‘The wrath of the leadership’ should be turned to some tangible action for not only the gods but the people to see. Or else the wrath of the gods can turn on the leadership with all its fury.
