Piyatissa says he joined NFF as JVP has gone astray
JVP member of the Central Provincial Council Nimal Piyatissa told the Council meeting on Tuesday that he had joined the JVP breakaway group the National Freedom Front led by Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa.

On Wednesday he told the Council that he had now realized that the JVP, a political party he cherished from his school days, had gone stray without identifying the needs of the masses.

"The JVP has failed to comprehend the current issues and expectations of the masses. Hence, it is absolutely absurd to cling on to such a political organization which of course had a proud and remarkable history," he said. Of late, the JVP had been deviating from its much valued principals resulting in its valued vibrant forces of the calibre of Nandana Gunatilleke and Wimal Weerawansa being compelled to leave, he said.

The Provincial Council meeting was held at the Pallekelle Auditorium presided by Chairman W. M. Yaasamanna.
