Kandy - Twelve building contractors were ordered to halt constructions within 100 metres from the bund of the Victoria reservoir by Teldeniya Magistrates Miss Paba Kumari Dela.

The Magistrate issued the order following an inquiry into a complaint by the Teldeniya police that the house builders had put up buildings violating relevant regulations.

Among the house builders in close proximity to the Victoria reservoir are businessmen, doctors and other professionals.

High ranking public servants also have commenced constructions on the reservoir reservation.
