Standard Chartered Bank’s senior management received some impromptu cricket tips from staff members Chaminda Vaas and Chamara Kapugedera at the NCC on Monday.
"We enjoy seeing Vaas and Kapu whenever we can, as we understand their hectic schedules put their roles as bankers on the bench for the moment, but we see great potential in these two young men taking Standard Chartered Bank’s image as well as business in Sri Lanka to a whole new playing field!", said Clive Haswell, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank.
Vaas and Kapugedera have been employed by Standard Chartered Bank since 2007 as Business Planning Manager and Product Executive for the Bank’s Consumer Banking Division. Both cricketers have been keen to embark on their banking careers with the leading international bank.
"I see a real possibility for us to expand our career outside of cricket through a bank like Standard Chartered Bank, which pushes the strong values of sportsmanship to every sphere of their functions. The bank has continuously performed very steadily and has been responsible for some ground breaking innovations in Sri Lanka, as well as maintaining a consistent commitment to its CSR initiatives in the community. Therefore it feels natural to align myself with this organization," said Vaas.
