A spokesman for the Health Ministry said yesterday that the National Health Development Fund (NHDF), which was launched in the 1980’s received money from the ‘Suwaseta,’ lottery of the National Lotteries Board as well as local and foreign donors.
It works towards the development of the Sri Lankan health sector and has donated eight million rupees for kidney research. It has also donated funds for mobile dental units for the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and the Kandy, Peradeniya and Karapitiya Teaching Hospitals. It also funds the development work of the hospitals in Uwa – Wellassa, he said.
The NHDF will be further strengthened by the new website as donors can go on line and make donations to it, the spokesman added. (DJ)
