Probe against  Peliyagoda OIC

Police top brass have commenced an inquiry into the absence of the OIC of the Peliyagoda Police on the last date of the case regarding an alleged seizure of equipment from the media persons of Sirasa TV during the opening of the Kelaniya flyover by Minister Dr. Mervin Silva, police sources said yesterday.

Police said the Sub Inspector of the Peliyagoda Police Station had arrived late at the Magistrate’s Court after the case was taken up and postponed for another date.

SSP Kelaniya K. D. Somapala told The Island that police officers on Court duty had to be present in Courts despite their busy schedules and the Sub Inspector had gone late to Court on the last day of the case. He would have to face disciplinary action, he said.
