It is indeed praiseworthy
that the President has recommended the payment of concessions to all
religious bodies in respect of their electricity bills. It would be
greatly appreciated, if the President would also consider recommending
similar concessions to all charitable bodies such as homes for elders,
orphanages, homes for destitutes etc., in view of the crippling high cost
of living today.These institutions manage their day to day affairs with
great difficulty - they are run and maintained with much difficulty for
the poorest of the poor.
Great merit will accrue to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the
government if some form of relief is extended to these institutions in
settling their electricity and water bills.
