Today is the International Literacy Day. To mark the occasion a special programme has been organised by the National Institute of Education. Another programme will be held at the Magazine Prison.

The Primary Education Unit under the NIE will be upgraded as a Primary Education Department with effect from today.

A special lecture on literacy would be held at the NIE.
