Speculation is that three JVP candidates elected to the North Central and Sabaragamuwa PCs will quit, paving the way for three failed candidates to enter the two PCs.
Political sources said that Wasantha Samarasinghe (NCP), Mahinda Jayasinghe (Sabaragamuwa PC) and Chameera Koswatte (Sabaragamuwa PC) would not remain there. In the run up to the polls, the JVP nominated Sujith Kuruwita through its National List as Samarasinghe’s replacement.
