KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - Afghan police say two blasts have gone off at the police headquarters in Afghanistan’s second-largest city, and that casualties are feared.
Police officer Nematullah Khan says it wasn’t immediately clear what triggered the blasts or how much damage they caused at Kandahar’s police headquarters. A second police officer who asked not to be identified says a suicide bomber attacked Gen. Abdul Raziq, a border police commander.
Kandahar is the Taliban’s former stronghold. Militants unleashed a massive attack on the city’s prison in June, killing about nine police and setting free almost 900 prisoners.
