Motor and Non-Motor increases profits significantly up to 262 million

Ceylinco Insurance General announced a tremendous growth during the second quarter, recording a mammoth premium of Rs. 5.8 billion in General Insurance. Company sources hailed this achievement as a milestone for a Sri Lankan company under trying circumstances of the Sri Lankan economy. Ceylinco Insurance Life recorded a premium income of Rs. 3.9 billion during the same period. The total premium income of the company was Rs. 9.7 billion, which recorded an increase of Rs. 1,462 million in 2008 when compared with the same period in 2007, confirm company sources.

Calling the results an indication of the trust and value placed in the company by its customers, company sources also said that profitability increased by 32% during the 2nd quarter under review with a profit of Rs. 262 million as at end June 2008 . General Insurance premiums was increased by Rs. 620 million during this period - Non- Motor premiums contributed an increase of Rs. 400 million showing a growth of 20% and Motor premiums increased by 220 million.

He also noted that during the period under review, Ceylinco Insurance General pioneered yet another innovative product that added a new dimension to the Health Care sector - "Ceylinco Medi Spots" coupled with the National Health Insurance Policy. This novel concept designed to meet the primary medical needs of the entire family, offers an individual unlimited number of medical consultations at no extra charge during the whole year through the "Ceylinco Medi Spots" in the area.
