Mobitel ties up with Arpico to widen distribution network

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Services Provider exchanged an agreement with Richard Pieris Distributors Limited recently, to have its presence at Arpico Supercentres, the only hyper-market chain in the country.

This helps to further spread Arpico’s distribution network across the country. With this tie up, Mobitel offers its customers Online Bill Payments and Reload SMART connections at all Arpico Supercentres island-wide, along with the M3 Experience Center, located at the Arpico Supercentre at Hyde Park Corner.

  With this partnership Customers now have the opportunity to also visit the Mobitel kiosk to experience M3 Broadband services as well as purchase Mobitel connections, whenever they visit an Arpico Supercentre. To this end, services offered by Mobitel are in the process of being rolled out in 10 Arpico Supercentres, which will be available in the near future, with one already being in place.

 Arpico Supercentres, the large format hypermarket stores are exclusively designed for convenience by offering the modern customer with easy access, ample parking and wider isle space for easy shopping and carries over 40,000 products, including food items, personal care, furniture, electronics, clothing etc.

 Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom. In January 2004, the company launched its fully-fledged 2.5G GSM network that is EDGE/GPRS enabled and designed to operate on dual band.

In December 2007 the company launched its 3.5G HSPA network which is the first and only Super 3.5G network in South Asia. Investments committed to date in its 3.5G/2.5G networks and service offering totals over US$ 300 mn and is set to increase its base stations to 2000 by the end the first quarter of 2009.
