HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - Zimbabwe state radio reports that President Robert Mugabe’s party and the opposition have begun discussing the appointment of ministerial posts before the ceremonial signing of a power sharing deal Monday.
The radio reports that a new Cabinet under the deal will comprise 31 members, 16 of them drawn from the opposition.
Parties met in Harare on Saturday to work on Cabinet appointments before a meeting of Mugabe’s politburo, his party’s top policy body.
The radio said Sunday that the 30-member politburo "endorsed" the power-sharing agreement brokered by South African President Thabo Mbeki and announced on Thursday after protracted negotiations.
