Minister of Nation Building, Kalutara MP Rohitha Abegunawardhana, was bitten by a snake early yesterday in Beruwala. He had attended the wedding of one of his supporters at a restaurant in Beruwala and was leaving when he was bitten in the car park, his private secretary Sarath Ranawaka said.

The Minister was rushed to the Nagoda Hospital and was later transferred to a private hospital in Kalutara, Ranawaka said. Minister Abegunawardhana was warded in the Intensive Care Unit, he said adding that the patient was out of danger.
