Kalutara High Court Judge Jayantha Perera sentenced to death the two brothers accused in the Ambagaspitiya murder case on Friday (12).

Brothers, Ovitigala Vithanage Amira and Ovitigala Vithanage Sarath Gamini were found guilty of the murder of Mallawa Arachchige Don Sumith on October 31, 1996 by stabbing him at Ambagaspitiya in Matugama.

Three other accused in the case had died before the commencement of the trial. The two remaining accused pleaded not guilty to murder and the trial was conducted without a jury.
