BEIJING (AP) - Korie Homan had to wait a day, but she finally got even with Esther Vergeer.

Homan and Sharon Walraven won gold in wheelchair tennis at the Paralympics on Monday, defeating Dutch compatriots Jiske Griffioen and Vergeer 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Vergeer beat Homan in Sunday’s singles final, a match Homan felt she should have won.

"I was really disappointed because I had match point against the player who hadn’t lost in a long, long time," Homan said. "Today I cried again, but that was because I was so happy."

Vergeer is undefeated in 349 straight singles matches over 5 1/2 years and her Paralympic gold in singles was her third straight. She had also won doubles at the last two Paralympics.

"When we started in the warmup, I had to switch a button and go for doubles," Homan said.

Fifty-one medals were up for grabs Monday. The Paralympics wind down Tuesday with the final day on Wednesday.

China and Ukraine were the only countries to win two gold medals in swimming, with the rest spread around. China also dominated track and field, winning six golds and 11 overall. No other country was close. The United States won one gold and seven overall.

Oscar Pistorius, the South African runner known as "The Blade Runner," goes for his third gold Tuesday in the 400 meters, having already won the 100 and 200.
